Family Time

Its a fine sunday evening, as classical music notes linger in the atmosphere, pleasing to the many ears in the garden.
Straw baskets filled with food and wine were placed on mats that laid on the grass.
Trees swayed as if it was dancing with the wind and bubbles flew in the air.

The scenery set the most beautiful background for the families that came in love and happiness.
Mothers preparing the food and wine,
Fathers playfully carrying their child up on high,
Grandparents simply having a relaxing time,
And couples looking each other eye to eye,

and oh, kids rolling down the slope countless times.

Im not dreaming.
But it feels like a dream.

Its a lovely sight I saw and thankful to be part of it as we (man tou and me) have a little "picnic" at the Botanical Gardens listening to the Singapore Symphony Orchestra performing at the Shaw Foundation Amphitheater.

It brought back plenty of memories of my own, as my mom always used to bring us out for picnics and kite flyings. Although reminiscing the wonderful times I had when I was young, its a joy to the heart on that sunday evening too.

This may be what heaven looks like and God is already preparing us for such peaceful life.
He made us yearn for such good times, that we will always desire to have Family Times.
"There is a time for everything, but everything cannot be compared to family things."

Have you, spend some time with your loved ones (God, mom, dad, spouse, friends)?

Live well people.
=)

Family Time at Botanical Gardens...
wha.. wonder who's back is this..hmmm...hee.

Mother's day

Adapted from My Daily Bread...
"A good mother loves her family and provides an atmosphere where each member can find acceptance, security and understanding. She is there when the child needs a listening ear, a comforting word, a warm hug, or a loving touch on a fevered brow..."

I love my mummy. But how ironic my situation is because...
A listening ear. (well most of the time, she listens to Korean Drama more than me.)

A comforting word. (have you met my mom? and her sarcasm...its in the genes...)

A warm hug. (My mum hugs me a lot, last time before primary school tat is...)

A loving touch. (I hardly even see her...)

haha, despite these,
I know my mom's love towards me and my sisters is unique. Because she is a special mom.

S0 last mother's day,
well, given very tight budget circumstances,
we cooked again.
Chef man tou cooked stir-fry Udon, and hand-made dumpling soup which was an absolute Delish and my mom loved it. (xie xie ni man tou =)
Dessert cook char siew pao made "Orh Ni" aka Yam Paste. I also "hand-made" it de wor. really literally.
It was yet another interesting chemistry of cooking in the kitchen and family bonding despite sarcasm shooting at each other. haha.

Let the pictures do the talking aye.

Many The Miles

There's too many things that i haven't done yet
Too many sunsets
I haven't seen
You can't waste the day wishing it'd slow down
You would've thought by now
I'd have learned something

I made up my mind when i was a young girl
I've been given this one world
I won't worry it away
But now and again i lose sight of the good life
I get stuck in a low light
But then Love comes in

How far do i have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
How far do i have to go to get to you
Many the miles
But send me the miles and i'll be happy to follow you Love

I do what i can wherever i end up
To keep giving my good love
And spreading it around
Cause i've had my fair share of take care and goodbyes
I've learned how to cry
And i'm better for that

Sing how far do i have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
How far do i have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Send me the miles and i'll be happy to
Follow you Love

Red letter day and i'm in a blue mood
Wishing that blue would just carry me away
I've been talking to God don't know
If it's helping or not
But surely something has got to got to got to give
Cause i can't keep waiting to live

How far do i have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
How far do i have to go to get to you
Many the miles
But send me the miles and i'll be happy to yeah
How far do i have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
How far do i have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
Been talking to God don't know if it's helping or not
Many the miles
Many the miles
How far do i have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
Oh send me the miles and i'll be happy to
Follow you Love

There's too many things i haven't done yet
Too many sunsets i haven't seen

The Right Time

To cook an egg is easy.

To ensure its the right kind of hard boiled or soft boiled egg its not.
The right timing is the key.

Time can buy you money,
Money cannot buy you time.
Its that precious.

We, are always looking for "The Right Time" to do this, to do that...
"When is the right time to fall in love? to pursue your career? to start a family?"
......
I reckon, ultimately, You don't search for "The Right Time".
"The Right Time" search for you.
All we have to do is to follow His Timing. (Of cox, anticipating comes from our Faith that His timing is Perfect.)
God's Timing.

Ecclesiastes 3

To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

1. A time to give birth and a time to die (3:2).

The Preacher begins by looking at the two extremes of life. These are the bookends of your earthly existence. There is a time when you are born and there is a time when you die and everything else takes place between these two times.

Nearly every other time mentioned in this chapter involves a choice on your behalf. You can decide when to plant or when to uproot or when to kill or when to heal or when to weep or when to laugh or when to mourn or when to dance. But there are two things you don't decide. You don't decide when to be born. And you normally don't decide when you will die.

2. A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted (3:2).

The Preacher is speaking to people who live within an agricultural economy. If he were speaking today, him might say that there is a time when you punch in to go to work and there is a time when you punch out to go home.

3. A time to kill and a time to heal (3:3).

It is noteworthy that the word used here for kill is NOT the same word as is used in the ten commandments for murder.

4. A time to tear down and a time to build up (3:3).

Buildings have their life expectancy in the same way that people do. There are times when it is appropriate to build and there are times when the most constructive thing to do is to tear a building down.

5. A time to weep and a time to laugh (3:4).

There is a proper time for the manifestation of emotions. There are times when we Christians ought to weep and there are times when we ought to laugh the laughter of the redeemed.

C.S. Lewis described pain as God's megaphone. He whispers to us when we laugh, but He shouts to us when we weep.

6. A time to mourn and a time to dance (3:4).

This forms a parallel couplet with the previous line. Those who weep are the same as those who mourn. And those who laugh are the same as those who dance.

7. A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones (3:5).

The throwing of stones was a part of the method of execution of criminals. It describes a rejection of that person, not only from society, but even from life. On the other hand, the gathering of stones would be for constructive purposes - to build a house or a wall or even an altar to the Lord.

8. A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing (3:5).

This also seems to be in chiastic parallel with the preceding line. It is again relational in nature. There is a time to mend relational fences and there is a time to avoid making up.

Embracing was a form of greeting in the ancient world. There is a time for hellos and there is a time for good-byes.

9. A time to search and a time to give up as lost (3:6).

You cannot spend your entire life searching for that which has been lost.

There comes a time when you have to face the facts that what is lost is now lost and can no longer be found.

Men often go through a mid-life crisis in which they attempt to regain their youth by doing youthful things - a young way of dressing, a new sports car, a new wife. But it doesn't work. There is a time to give up such things as lost.

If you want to feel young, hang around young people. If you want to feel old, try to keep up with them.

10. A time to keep and a time to throw away (3:6).

Everything that you now own will one day be thrown away. That does not mean you should throw it all away now. But perhaps it DOES mean that you should take care to what you cling too tightly.

This also applies to relationships. Parents, there comes a time when you have to begin to let go of your children. Begin to allow them to make their own decision and even to make some of their own mistakes.

11. A time to tear apart and a time to sew together (3:7).

This seems to be in chiastic parallel with the previous phrase. The idea of "tearing apart" is often used of rending garments in a time of grief or of crisis. There comes a time when the crisis is over and the grief is passed and that which has been torn is sewed back together.

12. A time to be silent and a time to speak (3:7).

There have been times when I have regretted speaking. And there have been times when I have regretted my silence. Wisdom comes in knowing when to speak and when not to speak.

13. A time to love and a time to hate (3:8).

We read that God both loves and that He hates. The hatred of God is directed against sin. And there are times when we ought to hate, too. We ought to hate injustice and hypocrisy whenever we see it.

14. A time for war and a time for peace (3:8).

This and other passages in the Scriptures indicate that there are times when warfare is just and right - specifically when it involves defense from outside aggression.

So Many Things...yet So Little Time?

Give up Your Time. Follow His Time.

"Not ours to know the reason why,

Unanswered is our prayer,

But ours to wait for God's own time,

To lift the cross we bear."

Reason to smile

How can one smile such sweet smiles,
When one is so saddened by sorrows for miles,
How can I smile the same smiles,
When life brings me nothing but tears,

I wondered for so long,
What reason you had to smile that long,
To keep smiling though troubles come,
And still remain sweet and silently overcome,

It's such a mystery to me,
Your smiles from heaven with glee,
I adore and yet envy thee,
But I'd rather you smile those at me,

I feel happy when I see you smile,
Even if I'm sad and lonely,
Your smiles bring me somewhere,
I don't even know where,

But it was you,
You gave me the reason to smile,
To smile with no reason,
To smile for a smile,

I guess life is just like that,
We need not a reason to smile,
For a smile is the reason itself,
To rejoice and open-heartedly give thanks,

I learned to smile because of you,
Because your smiles bring me joy when blue,
It proves how well and powerful,
A simple sweet smile can become so beautiful,

Smile for the sake of a smile,
Smile for the sake of happiness,
Smile for the sake of life,
Smile because of hope left in life,

Smile my friends,
Smile those same sweet smiles,
Smile so the world can be a peaceful dove..

You make my smile. =)
